India is a land where cricket is practiced as a religion and there are lakhs of aspiring cricketers from every state and district who wants to represent their state and their country. Everybody wants to become a successful cricketer and when you ask anyone in India, the answer will range from Virat Kohli to Rohit Sharma when asked like whom they want to become?. Such is the craze of becoming a batsman in India. When we compare the stats, only 35% out of 100% of aspiring players across India wants to pursue a career as a full time bowler and out of 35% only 12 to 15% wants to become a proper full fledged fast bowler.
Fast Bowling requires a lot of skill development, it requires immense levels of fitness, hardwork, consistency, technicalities and proper exercises daily alongwith a strict diet regimen. It’s certainly easy to think of becoming a fast bowler but to actually become a fast bowler is very difficult on a consistent basis.
One such promising youngster who has scripted a journey for himself as a fast bowler is 18yr old Hrutvikraj Mandekar. Hrutvikraj began playing cricket at the age of 13 and he is primarily a right arm fast bowler from Maharashtra. Born in Pune, Hrutvikraj practices under Sachin Nair Foundation in Pune and also at DY Patil. Sachin Nair sir is a former Ranji Trophy and India “A” Cricketer who has trained many established players under his wings. Apart from him, Hrutvikraj also trains with Laleet Musale who was a former Maharashtra Ranji player. Hrutvikraj started relatively late but his consistent hardwork helped him progress in the field of cricket.
Hrutvikraj, who was a part of the Maharashtra U19 squad considers swing as his weapon and shared with Cricketwale “ my stock deliveries are usually outswingers, cutters and slower deliveries. I am constantly trying to work hard on becoming a more effective swing bowler” . Hrutviraj idlolizes James Anderson and Deepak Chahar while aims to represent Maharashtra senior team in the coming years. Indeed, his ultimate aim is to represent India in Tests & we wish him all the luck for his future endeavors.
