Amol Muzumdar- the Indian Batting Maestro we missed on the big screen

If we want we can give numerous tags- a classical test batsman, a Ranji legend, the 2nd highest Ranji Run Getter, an excellent cricketing brain and also at present the Rajasthan Royals coach in IPL. Amol Muzumdar’s life can be as unique as his first class career and then we still think why India never got a player of his caliber into the test arena?

A batsman who relied over the years more on technique than power just like Dravid, a batsman who averaged close to 50 with over 11,000 first class runs in a career spanning 20years. A batsman with 30 first class tons & 48 half centuries. A player par excellence who was also a wise skipper.

Amol Muzumdar was also the vice-captain of the India U/19 team and played alongside Dravid and Sachin while he was the next man padded up for Shardashram English School when Sachin and Kambli stitched a world record 664run stand in their school days.

Not every cricket fan in India may be aware about him but the true cricket connoisseurs will always look up to him in the same frame as Dravid or Laxman even though Indian cricket never got to see him at the highest level, he is the man who ruled the domestic circuit and contributed a lot towards the progress of cricket at the domestic level.
