We are not sure if a list of top 10 was enough but as far as we know, these are the swing bowlers who will always be ranked amongst the best!
Wasim Akram
The King of Swing is what Wasim Akram was popularly called as. Akram would swing the ball so much and that too with pace, even spinners would get a complex looking at the swing variations! Wasim Akram is a legend for sure.
Chaminda Vaas
Pace was not his weapon, Vaas relied simply on swing and guess what, he managed over 750 International wickets with that! Vaas swinged the ball nicely in the early overs and would always provide Sri Lanka with important breakthroughs!
Allan Donald
Though this South African legend was a fast bowler, Donald in the later half of his career also started swinging the ball and altered his pace & the results were awesome! Allan Donald went on to become one of best bowlers produced by South Africa!
Irfan Pathan
Even though many may question his name featuring alongside such big legends but trust me, the swing which Pathan generated in the first half of his career was as equal or sometimes even better than Wasim Akram. Irfan was already considered and compared to modern day Wasim Akram for that. If you still doubt about his inclusion in this list, please watch the hat-trick video of Irfan Pathan in the first over against Pakistan in a Test. Your all doubts shall clear for sure!
James Anderson
Usually, When we talk about swing and fast bowling, nations like West Indies and Pakistan come to our mind but James Anderson is one such exception from England who is a tremendous exponent of fast swing bowling. More than 350 Tests wickets are a testimonial to how lethal Anderson can be.
Dale Steyn
Be it his bowling action, his run-up, his line & length, consistency or his discipline, there is not a single department in pace bowling where he lacks and boy! He swings the ball to and those are deadly! Surely one of the modern day greats!
Waqar Younis
If we closely observe his action, Waqar Younis had a quite similar bowling action to Shaun Tait. What made him stood apart were his maniac in-swinging yorkers and tremendous swing bowling which helped him took a lot of wickets for Pakistan!
Mohamad Amir
We do agree its too premature to feature him in this list and again many may doubt this inclusion but if you haven’t seen him bowl yet, please watch this youngster’s few videos on Youtube & you will be mesmerized by his swing and pace. Many times he has become unplayable! Still just 21 and he has a big future to embrace! Amir is a genuine swing bowling wicket-taking machine!
Glenn Mcgrath
Does he need any explanation. Glenn ‘the pigeon’ will always be the most loved & respected player of Australlia. Mcgrath’s ability to swing the ball consistently made him one of the most successful bowlers in the world.
Zaheer Khan
Zaheer will always be the best swing bowler India has ever produced & also the most successful fast bowlers of India. The amount of swing which he was able to generate in the later half of his career after his comeback has stunned the batsman and the cricketing world altogether! Zaheer will always be regarded amongst the top bowlers in the world when it comes to in-swing or reverse swing!
Also worth mentioning:
Imran Khan
If Wasim Akram demanded attention, this guy demanded awe. Imran Khan will always be regarded as one of the finest swing bowlers along with pace in International Cricket.
Mohammad Asif
The tainted Pakistani bowler was a genuine swing bowler and had he not diverted his mind and focus into wrong things, Asif would have been a world class bowler by now!
